This is where I post Psalm settings for use by Petrus and Rock of Faith. Of course anyone else who wants to use them is also welcome.

I have been asked by several people (most importantly my wife) to create a comprehensive listing of all the Psalms I have composed settings for.  OK, here you go.  If you look at the top of the page you will see a new link titled Psalms.  Click on it and you will see the list (currently at 42 settings).  Thanks to everyone for your support over the years.

Peace,
Matt

Psalm 67: O God, Let All the Nations Praise You for 05/09/10, the 6th Sunday of Easter

by Matt Retz on Friday, April 30, 2010 10:31 PM

Here's the demoTranscription coming soon. And now here's the lead sheet.  Be careful, the ink's still wet!

Psalm 30: I Will Praise You, Lord for Sunday 04/18/10

by Matt Retz on Monday, April 12, 2010 6:18 AM

OK... after tourturing my singers last night at rehearsal I have performed some surgery on this setting and think it's much closer.  Here's the easier key.

Sorry about the pops.  Recorded on an underpowered PC when I was just starting out with ProTools.  Anyhow, here's the demo and the lead sheet.  Happy Easter!

Psalm 1: Blessed Are They Who Hope in the Lord - For Sunday 02/14/10

by Matt Retz on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 10:13 PM

Another one from 3 years ago.  Sorry about the pops and crackles on the recording.  Couldn't find any pennies to tape to the needle ;-).  Here's the demo (in E) and the lead sheet (in C).

Peace,

Matt

Psalm 138: In the Sight of the Angels

by Matt Retz on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 1:17 PM

So I wrote this setting 3 years back and then never had the opportunity to use it... until now.  May want to play with the verses a little but in any case here's the demo and the lead sheet.

Psalm 71: I Will Sing for Sunday 01/31/10

by Matt Retz on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 10:45 PM

Love the words to this one and a big thanks to my wonderful wife Elaine for helping me with the vocals.  BTW, if you haven't read her blog for the HT Children's Liturgy of the Word you should.  Great stuff!  You can find it at www.clotw.com.  So here's this weeks demo and the lead sheet in the original key as well as the more congregation friendly key.

Peace,

Matt

Psalm 96: Proclaim His Marvelous Deeds to All the Nations - for 01/17/10

by Matt Retz on Friday, January 15, 2010 8:53 AM

Sorry for the delay.  Had some Internet issues this week.  In any case, here's the demo and the lead sheet in the original key of A and the lower, more congregation freindly key of D.

Psalm 29: The Lord Will Bless His People With Peace

by Matt Retz on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 10:46 PM

OK.  There seems to be some uncertainty regarding the prescibed Psalm for this week.  OCP has it listed as Psalm 104: O Bless the Lord, my soul.  The USCCB however has Psalm 29: The Lord will bless his people with peace as the response.  I'm going with the Bishops (especially since I didn't notice the discrepancy until after I had written the setting).  So here's the demo and the lead sheet in both the original (and unsingable to evryone but me) key of D and the more congregation friendly (and therefore terrible for me) key of A.

Peace,

Matt

Psalm 128: Blessed Are Those Who Fear the Lord for 12/27/09

by Matt Retz on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 5:55 AM

This is my original setting from 2007.  I then used this with the alternate response this year so it may be familiar.  In any case, here's the demo and the lead sheet.  Merry Christmas!
