by Matt Retz on Friday, February 24, 2012 7:04 AM

This week we introduced two new chords, A7 and E7 and continued working on our soloing.  We also learned the term arpeggio - which is where notes in a chord are played in sequence, one after the other, rather than ringing out simultaneously.  Remember to practice every day.  This week you should work on:

  • Mastering the minor Pentatonic Scale
  • Grabbing  the F, A7 and E7
  • Using the TAB to arpeggiate House of the Rising Sun

We had a great time "jamming" this week as we explored the minor pentatonic scale.  We then extended that out through the use of bending notes to make it the Blues Scale.  This week, in addition to reviewing all of your chords and songs be sure to practice:

  • Am petatonic scale
  • Blues scale

Great class this week!  Everyone managed to show their competancy on all of the chords from the first chart and we had a lot of fun turning the sheets into paper airplanes and launching them across the room.  That's A, D, E, G, C, Dm, Am and Em!  Next week we will be holding our Jam Session so there are two important things to work on this week.

  • Am Dm E Chord Progression - for playing rythm and
  • A Minor Pentatonic Scale for playing lead.
