Psalm 118: The Stone Rejected by the Builders Has Become the Cornerstone for Sunday, April 29, 2012

by Matt Retz on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 4:59 PM

The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes.

This week:

  • Review Strum Patterns 9-12 (write in counts in needed)
  • Master the arpeggios in House of the Rising Sun
  • Pick a song (please make it appropriate for a Catholic class), find it on google using instructions above, print it out and bring it to class.

by Matt Retz on Monday, March 12, 2012 12:07 PM

Let my tongue be silenced, if I ever forget you!
By the streams of Babylon
we sat and wept
when we remembered Zion.
On the aspens of that land
we hung up our harps.

This week we found a few of the older chords are getting lost so we will do a little more review each week.  A great way to get warmed up when practicing is to play through each of your songs before spending time working on the new stuff or mastering the hard stuff.

  • Review
    • Let it Be
    • Knockin on Heaven's Door
    • Free Fallin'
  • House of the Rising Sun (Arpeggiate)
  • 7th Chords - A7 and E7
  • Pentatonic Minor Blues Scale (try picking out the melody to House of the Rising Sun of Hound Dog)
