Psalm 139: I Praise You, For I Am Wonderfully Made, for Sunday, June 24, 2012 - The Nativity of Saint John the Baptist

by Matt Retz on Monday, June 18, 2012 7:39 AM

I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.
O LORD, you have probed me, you know me:
you know when I sit and when I stand;
you understand my thoughts from afar.
My journeys and my rest you scrutinize,
with all my ways you are familiar.

Psalm 92: Lord, It Is Good To Give Thanks To You for Sunday, June 17, 2012

by Matt Retz on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 10:43 PM

Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.
It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
to sing praise to your name, Most High,
To proclaim your kindness at dawn
and your faithfulness throughout the night.

Psalm 116: I Will Take the Cup for Sunday, June 10, 2012

by Matt Retz on Monday, June 4, 2012 10:25 PM

I will take the cup of salvation, and call on the name of the Lord.
How shall I make a return to the LORD
for all the good he has done for me?
The cup of salvation I will take up,
and I will call upon the name of the LORD.

Psalm 118: The Stone Rejected by the Builders Has Become the Cornerstone for Sunday, April 29, 2012

by Matt Retz on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 4:59 PM

The stone rejected by the builders has become the cornerstone.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes.

We did some more work on reading strum patterns today and were introduced to eighth and quarter rests.  I also showed the class how to find the chords to songs using Google.  The pattern is to enter songname artist and the word chords into google and examine the results.

This week:

  • Review Strum Patterns 9-12 (write in counts in needed)
  • Master the arpeggios in House of the Rising Sun
  • Pick a song (please make it appropriate for a Catholic class), find it on google using instructions above, print it out and bring it to class.
